DCI: Afternoon sessions 2 [Zoopy videos]

Money and marketing

The Money and Marketing panel discussion consisted of three very different speakers and approaches to monetising social media: South African Ramon Thomas of Netucation, South African Laurian Clemence who blogs as Peas on Toast, and South African Matthew Buckland, GM of the Mail & Guardian Online.

Unfortunately, there are no videos of the parallel panel session of cyberactivism and legal lessons.

Panel discussion – innovation: Web2.0 and the media

The closing panel featured Mohamed Nanabhay, head of new media of Al Jazeera, based in Qatar, and South African Vincent Maher, digital strategist at the Mail & Guardian Online. Two very powerful and thought-provoking presentations. You need to look beyond the entertainment value in Vincent’s presentation to see the message he is delivering (a good example of Renee Moodie’s question from earlier: how do traditional journalists meet the challenge of delivering serious content in an engaging manner).

Web 2.0 – Al Jazeera

Web 2.0 - M&G Online
