[Poll] Pick n Pay logo not readers’ choice

We’re now moving into day three of our poll, What do you think of the new Pick n Pay logo?, and boy oh boy has the response been heated! Apart from 857 votes at the time of this blog post, we’ve received 104 strongly opinionated comments, most of them slating the design and the choice of UK designers instead of supporting local talent.

All that experience, money, resources and time waisted. Very dissapointing. Have seen smaller companies with smaller budgets doing a far better job!

Recent times have seen quite a few high profile logo design controversies both locally & abroad. I was one of those who would outright criticize these based merely on what I saw in front of me and feel the same about this PnP one, but there’s more to this than just the immediate visual appeal. The logo controversies seem to be doing something for the brand - giving it exposure in a space where it usually gets none. Quite weird hey, I wonder if it’s part of the strategy?
