[Poll] Should media rescreen the controversial video?
By Simone Puterman in Marketing, Poll | 5 comments
One of the biggest talking points this week, if not the biggest, in the media: the Free State University video. e.tv’s 3rd Degree is intending on screening the full length version on Tuesday, 4 March 2008, at 8pm. We’ve just put up a new poll – Should e.tv screen the racist video? Should the media be rescreening the racist Free State university video?– so go add your vote.

The public has the right to know what the 4boys did to humiliate South Africa across the globe..So yes, E-TV should go ahead and show the racist video..sensitive viewers should be warned but our whole country should see it..!

The video should not be published as this will only incite further racial tension. We live in a time without racial harmony and until that time lets try and simmer down this race issue. It WILL create more furore once more people have seen it who have not, so whats the point. E-tv is practising cheap sensationalism, and to what end I ask. They will not solve the issue at all but get inflamed comments from outraged viewers on both sides of the fence.

A big yes e-tv should publish the video and I do not believe that this will incite more racial tension. we are 13 years in to democracy but black people are still being ill treated, I believe the whole country still rememebers what happened in Skirliek>>..

Four boys’ ill judgement cannot justify the abuse on innocent students on campus. I have received a testimony from a man on campus that white girls are being terrorised in the hostels by black men calling them “white whores” and shouting threats at them such as ‘we will rape you’, and bursting uninvited into the girls’ rooms. Why are such events not put into the limelight?
Furthermore, E-TV journalists motivated black students to interrupt a class yesterday, while looking on as they got physical with one of the lecturers. It seems E-TV is using racial tention for their own gain. Rapist threats deserve attention. Be objective.

I just received an e- mail warning us about the possible danger of going near the uofs campus….i just want to say THIS IS ALL IMMENSE MEDIA HYPE im not affiliated with the men or even a student in bloemfontein but from what i can see this was not racially motivated..Just because there were no whites involved in the gross transgressian does not mean it was racial…Because of e-tv and their excessive media hype we now fear for our saftey…i do not condone what these men did and do find it dispicable and in-humane but procecute them in the right manner…E-tv has taken this story too far…portraying to the world a racial atrocity and therefore causing irreprable damage to all….What ever may come of tomorrows protest be it on the head of e-tv!!!!!
