[Events] A new media approach to Million Man March

Whether you call it multimedia or massively multiple media, Nic Haralambous of SA Rocks was at yesterday’s Million Man March against crime. While he reports that there weren’t even close to a million marchers, “there were over 15 countries with media representation at the march and broadcasting in one way or another. That is good news.”

Dressed in his SA Rocks t-shirt and armed with only a digital cameraphone with Internet access, citizen journalist Haralambous himself covered the event in a variety of ways, including:

  • the written word
  • audio (podcast from telephonic interview with The Times Online)
  • video (shot with cameraphone, uploaded to Zoopy)
  • photographs (shot with cameraphone)
  • twitter (a micro-blogging cross instant messenging app, accessed via the cameraphone)
  • blogging
