[Pam in Cannes] DDB, you do us proud

A Grand Prix, now isn’t that fantastic? Congrats, DDB, you do

us proud.

South Africa House is in full swing. This year, of course, it’s become South Africa BEACH House. Sitting on the beach talking to clients, how bad can it get?! Good to see some of the familiar faces, making their mark on the international market.

The seminar that really got me was the RGA/Nike presentation, just amazing in content. Presented by Bob Greenburg (I think he is virtually resident at Lions every year – he is always involved) and the client from Sweden whose title is Brand Connector. They covered many features of the Nike brand, from a digital point of view. The one incredible thing they are doing is an event called “The Human Race”. They are encouraging the world to run 10kms simultaneously on 31 August 2008. They are hoping to get a million people to run on this day. It was a brilliant showcase of haSA House by dayving aGoldfish doing their thing

one-to-one communication with the consumer.

I saw a fantastic piece of print work today, a piece from Bangalore, India for an anti-smoking campaign. Will photograph and send the body copy, you have to read it.

Draft FCB (as I mentioned on day one) has a major campaign on socially responsible marketing. There is an expo (out of the Palais) which I will report back on, as well the much-awaited Young Directors Showcase named “Fearless”, which you’ll hear about tomorFrom left – SA party: Bianca Cape Film Commissioner, Angela van Schalkwyk of Screen Africa, Tumaini Leshoairow.Janette de Viliers of Groundglass and Nicola Martin of Metropolitan Republic

So it was the big South African Party last night, with ‘Goldfish’ doing their usual brilliant musical thing. Lots of dancing, lots ofSA wine, hmmmm perhaps needed some good ole boerie rolls to soak it all up, but a great party it was. Walking along the croissette to the party last night I spotted no less than five other parties on the beach – Grey’s with one called ‘Glow town’, Navigator films, Publicis Plage, Getty images had one called Lalaland (this was rocking well into the night) and a of couple unknowns. The beach is really going large this year.

Until tomorrow,
Pam
