[US blogger tour] We Blog the World Sunday lunch at Moyo, Zoo Lake

This afternoon, Sunday, 30 November 2008, I had the privilege of a whirlwind lunch with the US bloggers participating in We Blog the World South Africa (see also United States bloggers to tour SA, Matthew Buckand’s blog, US bloggers set to tour South Africa), hosted by the International Marketing Council of South Africa at Moyo Zoo Lake, Johanesburg. Before they had to rush off to fly to Cape Town, I met most of the bloggers, and folk from the IMC, the IMC board, South African Tourism, eBlockwatch, Meropa, Business Day’s Jocelyn Newmarch and assorted others.
The participating US bloggers are:
- Renee Blodgett and Ray Lewis: down the avenue; @renee27 on Twitter
- Zadi Diaz: ZadiDiaz.com, @zadi
- Mona Gable: The Huffington Post
- John Gartner: Matter Network; @Matter_Network (@jggpdx)
- Chris Morrison: VentureBeat; @chrismorrison
- David Sasaki: Global Voices Online; @oso
- Eliane Fiolet: Ubergizmo; @ubergizmo
- Graeme Wood: The American Scene
The participating South African bloggers are:
- Simon Barber: brandsouthafricablog.com, @izwi
- Nic Haralambous: SArocks.co.za, @nicharry - Nic is also blogging about the tour here on the Bizcommunity blog
- Ndumiso Ngcobo: Thoughtleader.co.za (not that I saw him at Zoo Lake)
- Matthew Buckland: Matthewbuckland.com (@matthewbuckland)
While all are/will be blogging individually (somehow, sometime in their jam-packed itinerary - Vodacom has generously sponsored them with new Samsung cellphones, HSDPA cards and bandwidth, which apparently they were all playing with on their coach to the airport), collectively the posts are being aggregated on We Blog the World: South Africa. The conversation on Twitter is using the hashtag #wbwza, and Flickr/Zoopy/YouTube pictures, videos, blog posts etc are usingthe tag wbwsouthafrica.
I’m currently waiting for the new version of Zoopy to go live so I can upload the photos that I took. See Bizcommunity’s profile on the new, improved Zoopy.
